Dioctophymiasis
[Dioctophyme renale]

Eggs of Dioctophyme renale are ellipsoidal, measuring 60-80 µm long by 39-46 µm wide.  The eggs have a wrinkled exterior and the polar ends are lighter in color.  Eggs are shed unembryonated in the urine of the definitive host (usually carnivorous mammals, including mustelids and canids).  As humans are not a natural definitive host for D. renale, eggs of this parasite are rarely seen in human urine specimens.
