Endolimax
nana trophozoites measure 6 to 12 µm and possess a single nucleus
with a characteristically large, irregularly shaped, blot-like karyosome.
The nucleus has no peripheral
chromatin. Their cytoplasm is granular and often highly vacuolated.
Trophozoites of E. nana can be difficult to distinguish from those of
Iodamoeba buetschlii.
